WoW!
It’s now been 14 years and I still
with my sport, I swear its in my blood. There was some bumps in the early part of the season, like was I even gonna find a team? Since my former team folded just before the 1st practice. But talking to a few paddlers I knew, I was able to join the team I’m on now (at least for this season) oi.. what a year has it been, this team changed coaching staff early season, every race we took part in we placed 4th, just shy a that shinny hardware.
The way we were acting Sunday afternoon after we placed 3rd overall, you’d think we’d never medal ever (well some never have). All I can say is WOW! My team finally were able to kick some booty. I’m sure we can have done the what if’s we had all 26 paddlers at every practice and or if everyone was a few pounds lighter [this is the 1st year, I ever felt fat], or if no one was injured how could we placed. But no one can live on the “ifs”, if you did that’s freakin sad . I’ve had to spare (aka I was benched) a lot more this season then I have in the past. Sure I’m not pleased with it but life goes on. I’d rather be sitting off a race for a team then, sitting off for a bunch of people who think there is an I in the word team.
I may have been paddling for zillion years, I may not be the fastest paddler or one of the fittest but I work at it I enjoy this sport, if we win sweet, if we don’t I take away what we’ve done within the team and gear for next race/season. I’ve had some amazing coaches and some not so smart ones. This year I as so lucky to be able to be coached by a fellow friend.
Not to sure what season 15 will bring, I guess we’ll have to wait and see. Until then I’m heading back to school to finish my personal trainer certificate as its for me personally and as a coach I’d rather have more training under my belt then some coaches who’ve just taken the coaching seminars. I’ve been debating this for the last few years if I wanted to get my BA in human kinetics.

Hi, the name is Kimm, I'm a 30 year old Canadian who has been online since 1999. For the last 16 years my main passion has been dragon boating where I've eaten, slept and breathed it and raced all over North America.

I think you have a fabulous attitude towards your sport. A lot of people could learn from that. As long as you are having fun as a team, that’s all that matters. I felt the same way about softball when I played.
Hey I just wanted to add a comment about your most recent entry: I hope that everything is alright and you have a safe trip. I hope it’s just a temporary goodbye and not the permanent kind. You’ll be in my thoughts.
Congrats on third.
You sound so enthusiastic about paddling. It seems like you really love the sport and have such a good attitude about it. I think you should get your certificate it can never hurt
I hope all is well on your trip. I nominated you for an I love your blog award!
