In Flanders Fields

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.

This is the 1st year, I am not attending my city’s remembrance day ceremony. I really want to go but I caught the cold bug that’s been going around, so instead I’m just gonna watch the watch the local tv coverage, and just stay under the covers all day.
I have never been a fan of war, but I support the men and women who put their lives on the line for us every day.

I love Flanders Fields Poem, it is one of my favourites.
I did not attend the ceremony in Richmond, just opted to watch the one in Ottawa. It was very nice. One thing I find odd is that people clapped. It is not a show, it is a remembrance day ceremony, to remember the dead
This is the first year I didn’t wear a poppy and I feel soo guilty. I haven’t been anywhere where they give poppies away for donations and such too so I don’t know where to get one now. =(
Honestly I’ve never been very educated on the whole ceremony. I need to get educated though.
I have the same feelings you have about war though. I was never a fan.
