6 months

It’s been 6 months since I’ve moved, lets just say meeting people out here is harder then I thought, sure I could always hit up all the pubs around here but I don’t drink. Thankfully I still got my dragon boat, thought I practice in another town.
The people at work are nice, but I don’t see myself hanging out with them outside of work as they are all either in their in their teens to late teens or have kids my age.
Though, thanks to the net, I’ve been able to met other local bloggers (all thanks to twitter lol) but they are mostly all downtown core folk. The joys of moving away from the city for cheaper rent.

Hi There! Welcome to Paddling-Geek.Net (PGN for short).

i hate moving it takes me forever to settle in =(
cheaper rent is waay better than being broke after especially since we are in a recession right now.. hope you make some friends soon! im sure you will! everything will be fine theres a lot of nice people in this world =)
Hey, cheaper rent is always good.
My sister moved away from home and it took her 2 years before she really started to go out and make friends. So, you know, everyone works on their own schedules and that”s okay.
Moving can be exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time. It’s always nice to meet new people and make new friends (those local bloggers seem pretty cool). Cheaper rent is important, and it’s a good thing to have at times like these.
I have lived here all my life and I hardly have friends here. lol
This is why most of my friends are online, and I actually love that.
I’ve never moved, but I want to so badly. I hate living here. It’s too expensive! lol
Moving is always hard… I hate having to uproot myself and putting myself out there. Some others fair more better than others… I’m sure you’ll be able to find your circle soon. That’s great that you were able to meet local bloggers!! That’s always fun!
Isn’t there a community centre close by to your place? I could have sworn I drove past one, there is always using the Gym there every now and again, or perhaps joining a group – photography, yoga, or whatever…
You could also just socialize with the older folks who have kids your age, as you never know their kids are decent and friendly.
Or the friends of friends of the teenagers etc.. it’s all about networking.
I could have sworn you’ve been away from me for longer than 6 months, but in all honesty, I love your new place. It is beautiful! Bry and I are constantly searching for a place to buy (we are living here for one more year in hopes of saving more for a down payment)
You cant forget the local bloggers they all seem pretty cool, and the local twitters – I am hoping to make it to one of the local twitter meetups hopefully.
You’ll meet people sooner then later.
It’s so hard to meet people! I guess it takes awhile sometime, but at least you’re getting out there
I don’t make many friends in new places either, but I like it that way. I’m just not very social, I prefer to stay in with myself or my fiance.
you’d surely get along with em pretty soon.. the teen needs a big sis so why not try to hangout with em?
Cheaper rent is always ideal! When you live in the city, the price for homes and such are drastically high. Most people move away to save money and just commute from a further distant.
Meeting new people is hard, but soon enough it becomes something in the past.
Do they have those dart boards in the pubs? Maybe challenge someone to a game? Ahaha, if I played…there should be caution tape all around.
I don’t do well with hanging out with people from work. Something always goes down and i finally say forget it and then work hates you and your personal life hates you. I moved last year from one town to another. About 45 minute difference and wow. It took me forever to make friends. But I do love my internet. That friend is awesome! lol Good luck.
Meeting people is particularly hard in Vancouver
I don’t know what it is…
It’s good you’re getting out there and doing all your paddling sports etc… that’s such a great way to meet people.
Just takes time.. 6 months isn’t very long to build up a group of friends
