C4AC #2 – The Personal Walking Adverting Board

After doing a Canadian household survey of what we purchasing (and getting $30 for it) I remember hearing back in high school that we were just pawns in the wide seem of marketing, it wasn’t until I did the 200 page survey it finally clicked.
Have you ever noticed how many name brands products we all personally own? Whether its clothing or how many technology gadgets you own? Even if you are someone like myself who are not into getting the latest trends. Do we really need to upgrade to a new Ipod every year?
The latest trend for walking adverting boards have been to get tattoos or a henna tattoos of a companies logo somewhere on the body for money. Money would be nice but a permanent tattoo of a company that could fold within a few years? Not so cool in my opinion. For an example: Getting a tattoo of Bolt.com (was one of the 1st social media sites out there) somewhere on your body and now years later they aren’t really around anymore. Think before you ink.
Personally I do find myself owning a lot of work out clothing from champion, under armour mostly cause I liked what they have and if its on sale even better. I want clothes that can last years with the abuse of the daily life of Kimm. Instead of spending money on something that’s made cheaply which will fall apart within a year. The same thing goes with why should I spend $30 bucks for a tank top when I get the same solid colour and cut for under $10 elsewhere?
The one thing I don’t like adverting are car dealerships, I don’t know why but I just don’t. When I got my car second hand I took off the dealerships sticker and plates within minutes of owning it.
Do you find yourself purchasing a specific name brand?
Would you get a tattoo for money?

Hi There! Welcome to Paddling-Geek.Net (PGN for short).

I would never get a permanent tattoo to advertise another company. Henna is a possibility, since it’s temporary and won’t last forever and ever and ever.
I don’t find myself purchasing from only one brand exclusively, but I’ll do research on electronics and such before buying it.

Brand names? Only for things I know are good quality. Like, I always use the same brand of hair products, because I know what to expect and that they suit my hair well. I think buying something just for the sake of having “that” brand is kind if ridiculous.
Tattoo for money? No. Highly unlikely. If I ever get one it’ll be because it’s meaningful and something I want, not something I was paid to do.
I might be a slave to marketing practices, but if so, I’m just an ignorant slave. I simply buy things that I like and are priced relatively well – name brand or not. I also prefer to pick things up that last more than a few weeks, but in the chance that I do purchase crap, it’s a one-time deal.
And Chris get himself a marketing tat? OH HECK NO! =)

I definitely care about brand names, but I think I’m smart enough to know when the brand is actually a quality brand or whether it is crap goods with just a name slapped over it.
I’d never get a tattoo for money. I’m not a big fan of that kind of advertising at all.
My personal belief is that if you’re a good brand… cool, environment friendly, reaches out to your customers, and modern…. then people will showcase your brand willingly.

I research all the brand name things I buy. Not only do I research the product, but also the company.
As for a tattoo, I don’t think I’d get one anyway so definitely not for money.

You’d have to pay me like 1M to have a tattoo from a company. As for name brands, I rarely purchase them unless there is a difference. Like certain shampoos or soaps. I’m a fan of dollar aisles.
