C4AC #2 – Hockey Rant
The #c4ac (Comment for a Cause) itunes gift card (1 of the 4 prizes) goes to Rebecca of Miss604.. Congrats Rebecca
Growing up I’ve always been a football fan (cfl/nfl) and of course into water sports while all my friends were into hockey. Now I’m just getting tired of Hockey this and Hockey that, Vancouver isn’t a one sport city, we have a lot of different sports and interests… But I guess not everyone sees that.
I can’t believe that I’m writing about Hockey! I personally don’t have nothing against it, I just rather play street hockey then spend a pretty penny and watch over paid players beat each other up. Now if they were wearing pink tutu’s but that might be another story. Am I happy that the Canucks are in the playoffs sure, but that’s not going to make me watch a game.
For someone who doesn’t watch a lot of hockey, I feel like someone is trying to push their religion on me, just the way a good chunk of Vancouverites on twitter are twittering about Canucks this Canucks that. I’m sure that’s like with any other pro sport town, if your not into the sport but you know what’s happening cause its talked about daily.
I just wish more people would notice that not everyone else out there is interested in the same things as they are.
As an athlete who has a site|blog, I try and watch what I say all the time as not all my readers are into the same sport as I am OR would want to hear about it 24/7.
Pro Sport Fans drive me insane, You get the groupies because a player is good looking and then you get someone who think they can play better but never step a foot on the ice before, don’t forget cause its now NHL playoff season, you got the on and off again bandwagon fans who disappear when the team isn’t doing to well and appear then they do well (those people need to pick a freaken side and stay on it)
/end of rant and Comment for a Cause has ended for another year .. thank you for all helping me raise $$ towards the MS Society.

Hi, the name is Kimm, I'm a 30 year old Canadian who has been online since 1999. For the last 16 years my main passion has been dragon boating where I've eaten, slept and breathed it and raced all over North America.

I’ve actually always wanted to play ice hockey. I loved playing floor hockey in school.
They should wear tutus!
I understands that the Canucks get more play than other sports in the Lower Mainland, but that being said, I’m also a big fan of the BC Lions myself and wait till the CFL season starts – Chris bleeds Orange. Maybe I don’t get as worked up over amateur sport, but I’m still quite a big supporter.
Oh well.. different strokes for different folks.

This is a hockey town through and through.
Your right hockey is like a religion but I disagree with the tutus.
Have you been to a game?
I don’t think we can be friends anymore …
Sorry.
Vancouver has many “professional” sports team that are “mainstream” those teams would be, Vancouver Canucks (NHL – Hockey), Vancouver Giants (WHL – Hockey), B.C. Lions (CFL – Football) and Vancouver Canadians (NW “A” League – Baseball).
It is just currently Hockey Season, so it’s time to cheer on the sport team of the moment. I am a huge Canucks fan, always have been always will be, next will be CFL season so I will be cheering for the Lions. I am only into professional level Baseball and I dont have one team that I follow.
I just dont follow any other sports than what I have mentioned. To each their own, if your not interested in hockey and you live in hockey town I still think there is something wrong with them. At least follow along and know the scores as you are out numbered and that is basically what everyone is talking about (unless it’s the N1H1 virus) – ha!

I ignore professional sports teams for the most part. I’ll read the news about it, but only so I can actually carry on a conversation about something with people that I interact with.
Just wait until the Whitecaps officially become a major league soccer team, then everyone will be going on about them! (I think it’s 2010 or something like that it’ll happen?)

I’m not a fan of pro sports. I’d rather watch regular people play sports and have fun, really.
Yay for C4AC!

I am complete opposite. I watch sports that I do not like to play, small exception for soccer and kitten licking your hand. Okay, so the last part is not related but it happened as I typed. Got to love pets and their odd behaviour at times.
Anyways, I think people get so worked up about the teams winning and what not. People are too driven with competition of being better, and attraction to said player that the purpose of the game is lost. Are we not suppose to watch and participate because it makes us happy? Or for the love of it? Some people go overboard and it is quite scary. I mean, breathe, it is a game and not death.
To sum it up, I rather watch hockey with my cousin when he gets free tickets than play the game. I suck at anything with hand eye coordination. Well, I do not exactly fail at badminton…but it comes close enough.

This is not related to the blog, but, I cannot believe you named one of your cats YumYum! That is absolutely cute.
I call Toby Toboo after Tofu sometimes. Ahaha. If I get another pet, he/she will definitely get a cool name like that.
And congrats on the success of Comment 4 a Cause!
