A Snowy Start

On Friday (my last day before my vacation) the weather was turning from nice to everyone panicking because of a snow warning. By Saturday morning we had a good couple of inches on the ground and it was still snowing, and footprints all along my street and a few others in my area as someone was trying ever car door to see if any were unlocked.
In all my years of flying I’ve never had to deal with a deicing which made me nervous as we were delayed 45 minutes before we even got into the air, and of course the second plane I had to catch was at the other end of the second terminal, I was able to make it with 5 minutes to spare before we were loading that plane. By the time I got off that plane I hadn’t eaten all day and I wasn’t pleased that if I wanted a snack on the plane that I had to use my credit card for a $3 dollar item instead of cash. So I went to Starbucks as I was waiting to be picked up. Walking out of the Airport and my allergies weren’t pleased with me.
We didn’t do to much yesterday, because my friends are big Colts fans we went to a well known sport bar chain out here in the Midwest to watch the game. I noticed on the menu they had a Canadian beer and I was craving something from home so I order a drink and the waitress didn’t have a clue what I was talking about or allowed me to order as I didn’t have an American ID, nor my passport on me (I’m sorry I hate traveling with my passport), just because they had a problem with Mexican’s using fake id’s. So we left and went to another restaurant and they were a lot friendlier and I can see my friends going back there again.
Hope everyone had a great weekend

yeah the place she was talking about isn’t midwest, its throughout the US, its Buffalo Wild Wings…aka BW3s. Yeah apparently they had problems with Mexicans with fake ids so they’re punishing all foreigners now to not be served alcohol. I got the cooperate number and refused all business after the manager spoke with us and spammed facebook with this to alert others.
they rarely check my ID anymore at all. I assume because usually I’m with a group where everyone looks older than 21. If I’m with my parents I always get carded, lol.
have fun on your vacation
That is crazy! I am glad that Keri got the corporate number. You do not look mexican, nor will you ever look mexican. Plus you look older than 21, because well.. you are old enough to drink. Plus who would keep their passport on them. That’s just crazy. I dont travel around with mine in my purse when I visit a new city while on holidays. If you lose that thing your amazingly fucked up and stuck in said new country. *grumble* at least you managed to leave and find good food and a beer else where.
I can’t get over the fact that you were denied a drink because you had a DL that wasn’t from the US – I’d almost wager they’ve probably seen significantly more (and likely been fooled by) the various state DLs that have come through the establishment. Complete nonsense in my opinion.
Although I wasn’t carded for booze while in Maui, I had to produce some ID when I used my credit card, and two different times the person saw my ID and told me that they liked the look of it (well, it is from Beautiful BC and all).
Ooh that is scary! I carry around my passport here all the time just in case. I’m so paranoid since everyone can hear my accent lol
Some establishments can be so silly about IDs, usually the ones that have been hit by the ATF or state authorities. I’ve had places in other states refuse me because they didn’t recognize my VA driver’s license. Sorry you’ve never been two states away?
Glad that you made your second plane on time. And go Redskins!
