It’s day 15 of this years Comment for a Cause and I wanted to write a bit more on why I decided to pick this charity.

Everyone always says oh they are a 2nd or 3rd world country, Kids aren’t Kids there, but when it hits home then people whine and complain and want the Kids to be Kids.. It is true that a lot of Kids these days don’t have the chance to be a Kid and take part in sports or other after school activities. For me I think anyone who wants to take part in a activity should be allowed, if there isn’t a girls hockey team then let them play on the boys team until there is one and so on..

Can’t remember where I heard it, but 1 in 3 Canadians families can’t afford to put their kids into sports/after school activities. I can’t imagination what it must be like for those parents of the kids who want to take part in something but can’t. This is why I think a charity like this that helps out globally instead of just in Canada or say in Africa, will teach everyone to takes part a thing or two about life.

Just tallying up the total so far, Comment for a Cause has raised $74 that will be going to Right to Play.. In the 3 years I’ve been doing this, I’ve donated over $260 to different charities.

Other day when I was working out this years budget and I just realized how much money I have spent in the last 16 years in my beloved sport of Dragon Boating. Sure I could have quit the sport and saved that money for a house in one of the best areas in Vancouver but I rather paddle and live where I am out in the boonies because there are less snobs and cheap rent is good.

More I think about it, the more I might want to get another job and have this job where I am at now and have it to pay for my paddling addiction and maybe my bobsledding addiction (going to be trying the sport in the Summer and use that as my cross trainer). Guess I should crunch some more numbers and figure how much sleep I’ll be getting before I apply for another job.

Would you get a second job just to help with your sport/hobby’s addiction?

As of today Comment for a Cause has raised over $43. Thanks everyone who has commented daily.
