A 100 years in Remembrance

Today we remember those who we’ve never met as well as family members, friends, classmates all those who signed up for war without a blink of an eye to fight for their country/for our freedom. Many never made it back home but we will never forget them.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the start of the first World War (August 1st is when Europe declared war). While I was in London over the summer, I got to take in England’s great history as well see how they (the UK) were thanking those who fought and remembering all those who were effective by this war, with a few street light posts having poppies cut outs lining the streets, a spotlight hitting the night sky and a display of 888 246 handcrafted ceramic poppies at the Tower of London – each poppy marks someone who died under the British Empire. This display is called ‘Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red’.

Some of you might remember this picture (above) from last Thursday’s Throwback Thursday, where I posted it on my instagram account and on my fanpage. The design and idea behind it is simple but also very powerful and moving at the same time.

One bad part about seeing this display in the early stages, you don’t get a chance to see it when it’s fully finished with your own eyes.

November Goals

Happy first of November everyone, hope you all had a great Halloween yesterday.

With it being the first of the month, I though it would be a great time to write down and share some of my goals that I would like to tackle this month in no specific order.

  • Finish the 3 books that I’ve started reading
  • Go on more nature walks – with and without the camera
  • Skype more with friends/family that don’t live near
  • Tackle the ERG (rowing machine) – I would like to be able to row 1000 meters under 4 minutes
  • Start training to row 2000 meters on the rowing machine – with no specific time limit for right now
  • Take part in a spin class

Do you have any goals, if so what are some of them?
