The nine weeks of summer did go by fast … well it seemed to me. But I really enjoyed this summer even if I didn’t go camping or on any fancy road trips. Here are some of my highlights of the summer:
- Got a bone bruise on my ankle early July and it STILL hurts (not sure what I did)
- Celebrated my first anniversary living in this house
- Drove to an out of town dragon boat festival with someone who is the worst backseat driver ever!
- Hosted a BBQ
- Created a dragon boat team of basically Vancouver twitters for a BC Childrens Fundraiser
- My Carbon Fiber paddle broke
- Got a new look, chopped 13 inches of hair off and got myself a new clothes and shoes
- Lost a childhood pet
- Danced six hours straight at my cousin’s wedding
- Attend my first WordCamp Fraser Valley
- Attend my first Renaissance Festival
- Hosted two themed movie nights
- Failed at my 30 day challenge of eating normal food but only having water to drink (no sugary crap ) .. Lasted 15 days
- Did not huli (flipped) when I paddled in a oc1 (1man outrigger) all summer long
- Changed PGN’s layout
- Last but not least…… H2O Geeks placed 7th overall out of 24 teams – I am very proud of these guys
How was your summer?
What did you do?

Paddling-Geek.Net(PGN) turned six years ago back in June (where did the time go?) since then I was working on a new layout for this site but it wasn’t until two Fridays ago, when I was finally had time to change the layout to “Dancing in the Wind”. The photo reminds me that without the wind everything would be standing still, looking lifeless. I took this photo last year when I was one of the people teaching grade 6-7 students how to dragon boat for a month.
Still can’t believe that this is the ninth layout ever made for PGN. Still have to fix the Exit/Link page (never update when tired) and update the Domain page and tweak the layout a bit, not sure why I can’t view the site on my ipod’s touch with the wptouch plugin.
Guess its time to start tinkering, if anything else is needing to be updated/fixed please let me know.
When I was looking around for ideas on how I want this layout to look like, I noticed not that many people do the calendars with the icons or use smilies anymore. I may be a few web trends behind because I still like using them, though I find they help break up the page instead of just seeing a full screen of text
Speaking of changes, last Friday, I just fed up with my long hair. The heat wave that we recently had did a number on my hair so I decide to cut 13 inches off to just above my shoulders. Now that I have all natural coloured hair (stopped colouring it about four years but for the tips. [as they were already damaged/coloured hair]) Now I’m finally able to grow out my hair (again) but this time it will be donated for a child’s wig. Which I’ve wanted to do for the last ten years.
With the new hair cut, I went shopping and to my amaze I was able to find two pairs of shoes and three of the five pair of clothing I found on sale. Normally, I am never that lucky. Now if I could be that lucky in the guy department. LOL!
Thank you all for the lovely comments in the last post. I too never knew that birds could live that long. It wasn’t until she passed on I google about the life span on Cocktails and some websites say they could live until they are 30. :zoned: I think I was in more tears
when I cleaned the bird cage and her stuff for the last time then I noticed she had passed on.
What was/is the worst website web trend that people still use on their website?
What is the best website web trend out that is out there, and why?
