St. Patricks Day and Me

There is something about St. Patrick’s Day , were I just start thinking about what would have it been like for my family members and others who traveled by boat in the 1800′s for months for a chance to start a new life in an unknown place. I would have been scared shit-less, not knowing if I or any of my family members or friends would die while sailing across the atlantic or if any of us would be turned away once we landed. There are days where I had a time machine just so I could see what they had to deal with. To even ask those of my family who did do the journey why did they do it?

With that, I’m a proud 4th and 6th generation Canadian (depends on what side of the family you look at) but I have always called myself a Canadian with a hint of Irish, Scottish and English blood or a Canadian-UK mutt.

I didn’t really do much today other then head to my favourite Irish Pub for lunch for a guinness and mushy peas….. Yum. If I could stand the taste of light beer, I’d order a green beer but since I’m not I’ll stick with a good Irish classic.

How was everyone’s St. Patrick’s Day err Tuesday??
